Hydrothermal oxidation of industrial effluents to generate H2 rich compressed fuel gas mixture 17 Jan 2025 Waste water treatment - Fuel production Coal is the major source of energy and hydrogen in steel production. Because of the application of fossil fuel, large quantities of carbon effluents were produced during washing. Secondly, the liquid effluent of the steel processing contains majorly phenols, (TOC=5500; COD=16000), Fe, Mo along with oil and grease. Hydrothermal oxidation has gained importance over the years due to its advance characteristics like high ionic product, low density, and high diffusivity with ability to involve in reactions enabling high conversions of ring compounds. A universal process that can handle multiple organic waste with efficiencies ≥ 90% at minimal environmental pollution need to be developed. The proposed process can handle any type of mixed liquors to pollutants that can convert into value added products at efficiencies approaching 100%. We have successfully degraded the most recalcitrant molecules completely by tuning the temperature and the oxidation coefficient to meet the CPCB standards.
